MICROGRANTS FOR DIGITAL RESILIENCE AND COMMUNITY INFRASTRUCTURE

Supporting short-term technical work with civil society, media, and grassroots groups navigating digital fragmentation and isolation.

About eQualitie

eQualitie is a Canadian not-for-profit organization building open and inclusive technologies to strengthen digital autonomy and protect the fundamental rights of communication and access to information. Working globally with independent media, civil society, and at-risk communities, eQualitie develops and supports infrastructure that resists censorship, safeguards privacy, and restores connectivity in fragmented or high-risk digital environments.

With over a decade of experience, the organization leads development on projects such as the Ceno Browser, a decentralized tool for accessing and sharing web content without reliance on central servers, and Deflect, a website protection and analytics service built for independent media and human rights groups. eQualitie also supports communities through training, documentation, and direct assistance, always with a commitment to open-source values and practical solidarity.

About the Program

eQualitie is now accepting applications for the fourth round of its microgrants program. Grants ranging from $1,000 to $10,000 are available to support short-term technical engagements (typically lasting one to three months) that focus on digital security, infrastructure development, and strategies to counter digital fragmentation. The funding is designed to bring technical expertise into community-driven initiatives, whether through direct hiring, contracted work, or collaboration with independent professionals.

Applicants can request support from eQualitie in sourcing qualified specialists, including developers, data analysts, and digital security experts. Proposed projects should address a clearly defined technical challenge and contribute to building open, resilient, and privacy-respecting digital environments.
